We provide protection to an area that covers 118.6 square miles within which includes over 18,600 homes & businesses, 7 public schools, 70 churches, & Johnson University.
SVFD was created in 1971 by concerned citizens and business owners of Seymour and South Knox county to provide fire protection to local homes and businesses. The department added vehicle rescue and extrication services which were initiated in 1987 and Emergency medical first response services which began in 1995. From just 24 emergency responses in 1971, we are projecting to exceed 2600 calls in 2018. SVFD’s nationally recognized Fire Corps Support Services Division was added in 2007.
The Volunteer Fire Department of Seymour Inc, also known as Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, SVFD is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We need partners, like you, to invest in your local volunteer fire department with as many households and businesses as possible. Without these investors lives and property will be lost.
